Research as a Process. Not Just a Product.

For too long, research has arrived in communities from the outside: designed by experts, conducted on people, and delivered back to institutions that were never accountable to anyone who was actually studied. Communities are surveyed, interviewed, and observed. Then researchers leave. Reports get written for audiences that don’t include the people who gave their time, shared their experiences, and made the research possible in the first place.
This top-down, extractive model doesn’t just produce limited research. It causes harm. It reinforces the idea that communities lack the expertise to define their own problems or lead their own solutions — when in reality, they hold the most precise knowledge of both.
That’s the model we reject. Our approach is participatory, equity-centered, and strategy-driven from the start — built on the belief that research should return power, not extract it

Step 01

Collaborative Research Design

We co-develop research questions, tools, and processes with organizations and community members. The methodology serves the question — not the other way around. This ensures projects reflect both organizational realities and community priorities.

Co-designed with community partners and organizational staff

Tailored to your context, capacity, and goals

Grounded in what community members actually know and experience

Step 02

Ethical Data Collection

We gather qualitative and quantitative data through participatory, transparent methods — interviews, surveys, focus groups, community-led data collection. Every step is grounded in ethical responsibility and genuine respect for community time and knowledge.

Participatory and inclusive methods throughout

Rigorous and Ethical Standards

Built on trust, transparency, and informed consent

Step 03

Insightful Analysis & Translation

We analyze data rigorously — looking for what it actually says, including what’s complicated or uncomfortable. Then we translate findings into accessible, honest insights that organizations can use: briefs, narratives, reports, presentations.

Qualitative and quantitative analysis centered on meaning

Clear and Actionable Insights

Data-driven Strategic Direction

Step 04

Actionable Strategic Recommendations

Research without application is just documentation. Impacted communities already have more than enough research done ON them. We translate findings into practical recommendations that inform program design, policy decisions, advocacy strategy, and organizational learning; with the goal of sustainable change and impact. We stay engaged through the application phase — not just the delivery.
